The SAT is divided into 3 categories: Math, Critical Reading, and Writing. Each section is formatted differently, just like each student has different strengths and weaknesses.
To best prepare for the SAT, I recommend the student take the test 3 times. Preparation leading up to the exam is generally hours of commitment, spent in 90 minute sessions/once per week. Typically, my students see an increase of points on the SAT (the exam is out of 1600). I always tailor the lessons to my students individual needs - no student should be taught the same way, as no two students learn exactly the same way.
I also specialize in emotionally intelligent tutoring - the tutoring process can be stressful for both the child and the parent. It is important to me that your child feels comfortable with the tutoring, and that you as the parent feel comfortable with the process. I am always open to discussing how the process is going - time spent discussing the tutoring outside of the lesson is always free of charge. Together, the student, teacher, and parent make a team.
