Native English teacher with 10 years experience in tutoring students of all ages

Hello!

My name is Maddy, I'm 30 years old and am a credentialed educator from California, currently living in Madrid. My educational background is in bilingual education, specifically English & Spanish. I have 5 years of classroom experience in grades K-12 and have tutored English learners of all ages for the past 5 years.

My approach to teaching is first to establish a relationship with my students, figuring out their learning styles, strengths, and areas of growth. Building off of that initial foundation, I cater my teaching style to student needs, whether you are preparing for a trip, looking for a casual conversation partner, or want to help your child gain confidence and fluency in using English.

The main objective of my lessons is for my students to gain confidence in both speaking and comprehension, improve their fluency, and create meaningful connections between English and their lives. I also have worked with students in more specific scenarios such as passing Cambridge/University entrance exams, preparing for business meetings, and even collaborating with other non-native English-speaking colleagues from around the world in job-specific environments.

I have experience in teaching students from ages 5-55. Previous students of mine have ranged from complete beginners, first time working with a teacher in English, to professors at universities who teach students in English daily but require support in navigating content-specific English.
