Hello! My name is Alejandro Rozo, I was born in Colombia and went to school at CNG, American bilingual school accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Since I was 4 years old, English has made a huge part of my life. I have a great passion for languages and music (which is more or less the same thing to my ears) and I'm fully trilingual in Spanish, English, and French. I've lived, learned, and taught languages and music in 4 different countries (Colombia, France, Mexico, and Spain).
I'm easygoing and proactive and I love sharing knowledge and stories with other people. I love conversation both light and deep. Over the years I've come to realize that learning a language can be really tedious if the lessons are mostly academic and do not lead quickly to "being able to speak and not just understand the language". My approach is to base the course on actual day to day conversation where the students can pick a subject of their interest and, while enhancing their conversational skills and pronunciation, sneak in all the academic and very important concepts (grammar, spelling, rules and exceptions, vocabulary etc.) that end up giving them a complete understanding of the language both written and spoken.
Evidently not all students have the same goal so we can adapt all this knowledge to the level they'd like to reach. No pressure whatsoever! The main point is to have fun while learning in a relaxed but assertive manner.
There's something that I really love about sharing knowledge and understanding how each of my students learn, so I can cater to their specific needs. I also have a very particular set of ears which have allowed me to learn and comprehend phonetics and the vocal apparatus at a very deep level, thus understanding why people speak how they speak, which parts of their mouth, throat, and nose they use to create the sounds through which they communicate. I also love accents, the point is not for you to lose yours, but understanding phonetics as a part of learning a language may be the best advantage so I believe.
