Zero Conditional
* Cosas que siempre tienen el mismo resultado
Form: If/when + present simple, present simple
Ex: If you heat ice, it melts. If I feel sick, I go to the doctor.
- When I am late to school, I can’t go in.
- When it’s rainy, I can’t go to the park.
- When I am ill, I don’t go to parties.
First Conditional
*Una situación futura específica
Form: If + present simple, future simple
Ex: If it rains tonight, I won’t go to the cinema.
- If the restaurant is closed, I’ll eat at home.
- If I am ill, I won’t go to the party.
- If I get a job, I will move out of my parent’s house.
Second Conditional
* Casi imposible que ocurra
Form: If + Past Simple, would/wouldn't + infinitive
Ex: If I won the lottery, I would buy my mom a house.
- If I was 2 meters tall, I would play basketball.
- If I moved to Germany, I would miss Spanish food.
- If he ate more vegetables, he would be healthier.
3rd conditional
*Situaciones imaginarias en el pasado (cosas que no ocurrieron, pero estás pensando que hubiese pasado)
Form: If+ Past Perfect , would/wouldn't have + have + past participle
Ex: If I had lived in Russia, I would have learned Russian.
- If I had studied more, I would have passed the exam.
- If I had left my house earlier, I would have been on time to work.
- If I had taken English classes with Blanca, I would have been fluent by now.
