I like to base my classes with movement and activity, using muscle memory to connect with visual learning for a more "real" experience when using a foreign language. I learnt that in schools although the theory is necessary I have not seen it to be enough to ingrain in the mind. Almost all students I have spoken about their previous experience of trying to learn a foreign language has forgotten vocabulary, phrases, verbs, lessons learnt etc. due to sitting down and looking at a board. I have found that by including an active, joyful experience engages the brain and memory while learning the reality split second decisions and real life conversations and accents that they will find, not just perfect audio pronunciations (That situation will never happen and students get confused and un-motivate themselves). My goal is always to be kind, give confidence, approach every student differently with empathy and understanding individual rhythm for each student. Find the learning technique that sparks their brain, as every student is completely unique and each brain is engaged and learns differently. Finally what I like to do is to get to know each student at the beginning and cover topics that they are interested in, merge the theory with their interest allowing them to enjoy while learning the fundamentals and moving on from there. For me personally this has worked and been joyful for all my students for the last 7 years in Spain, Japan and even online classes in China.
