James Foss

My name is James Foss, I am a young, highly enthusiastic, motivated and well-organised CELTA qualified teacher currently working at The School, Torrent on a 16 hour contract. I have previous experience working in a separate academy in Pamplona teaching English at all levels, for both business classes and Cambridge examinations, as well as working with teenagers and children at British state schools through educational organisations.

At The School I work with three distinct age groups, Monday to Thursday 17:30-21:30. I work with Young Learners who are primarily taught using the University of Cambridge Kid's Box 3 book which is supplemented through a series of integrated songs and games, as well as with teenagers preparing for PET and FCE Cambridge exams. As there are no breaks in between classes, all my lessons are rigorously planned in advance with enough flexibility and variety to fully engage students and maintain an enjoyable learning environment.

Prior to The School, I worked at ESIC Idiomas in Pamplona for two years, teaching students of all levels from A2 General English classes to C2 Business English courses. I prepared students for various Cambridge exams (including: PET, FCE, BEC, CAE, CPE), intensive exam preparation courses as well as conversation classes, a variety of in-company classes and for specific language functions such as the Cambridge Dynamic Presentations 1 course for business students. The sheer variety of classes which I gave meant that I constantly had to be able to adapt sources and materials so that they are suitable for each class, and it was this challenging aspect that made working there so enjoyable.

I graduated from the University of York in 2014 with a high 2:1 BA degree in English Literature and Related Language and I have maintained this interest in literature and language ever since. I am confident that with my previous experience, I have the skills to ensure that students receive a fun and stimulating learning experience.
