Hi! I'm James and I'm originally from Manchester (forza United!!)

My Experience
I've been living and working in Spain (with summers in Edinburgh) for the last 8 years teaching academic, legal, medical and business English as well as preparing students for Cambridge, IELTS and TOEFL exams online and face-to-face. I have a linguistics degree and a law master's from the University of Manchester and the Cambridge DELTA qualification from the University of Cambridge, where I received a distinction for my course design project ‘teaching medical English one-to-one’.

Over the last 8 years I've provided high-quality business English training to companies like Coca Cola, Vodafone, Allianz, Antena 3, AXA, Caixabank and PWC, both with groups and one-to-one language coaching. I've also taught many academic English, business English, legal English and English for health & life sciences specialisation courses at the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo, where I co-wrote the course textbook, ESADE business & law school, where I designed and taught the 40-hour academic writing intensive course, and the University of Edinburgh, where I am an associate teaching fellow.

Since 2015 I’ve been working in association with the Hospital del Mar and Pompeu Fabra University alongside Dr Manuel Algara, head of Oncology and Radiotherapy, on the OPTIMA clinical trial for breast cancer in order to present the trial to public health bodies in France, Italy, Germany and Japan. I've also taught medical English to staff at hospitals del Mar, Clinic, San Joan de Deu and San Pau | Dos de Maig. More recently I’ve taught medical English courses in the private sector, at pharmaceutical companies AstraZeneca, Novartis, Ferrer, Clínica Eugin and Olympus Medical, as well as to medical, physio and coaching staff at FC Barcelona, including one-to-one coaching with the club doctor, Ricard Pruna (though none of the players, unfortunately!!)

I have extensive experience in exam preparation, specifically the FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS and TOEFL exams, and have helped countless students achieve the grades/bandscores they need to get the jobs/internships/master’s programmes they wanted, specifically turning 6s and 6.5s into 7s and 7.5s.

My Classes
I provide dynamic, engaging, motivating and above all communicative language classes, and I can guarantee progress in fluency, accuracy and especially confidence in a short amount of time. My advice is always for students to commit to 1 hour 15 minutes of class plus 1 hour 15 minutes of homework per week in order to make maximum progress.
