Martina was my first Italian friend when I moved from Germany to Italy. At the time I didn’t speak a word of Italian and I was a little bit shy to try to talk in front of natives. But with Martina it was so easy right from the beginning. She didn’t care if I had an accent or couldn’t express myself well, she just gave me the opportunity to trying out this new language without worrying and the fear of being judged. With the years that passed my Italian always got better and I needed also to write essays in Italian. Martina was always available to help me with my expression and vocabulary. Moreover, she recommended me books to read and was always ready to discuss literature and current issues with me. After fifteen years of learning Italian and friedship, it almost feels like Italian is my second mother tongue and I think that a big part of this is thanks to Martina.
