My name is Paul, and I'm a certified teacher of Spanish for foreigners. I am a native Dutch speaker but trilingual (Dutch, English, Spanish), living in Spain now for over 12 years. I've also lived in South America for a long time, so I'm very aware of the differences between Spain and LATAM Spanish.

My methods depend totally on the student. Some like the "listen and repeat" method using everyday topics (very popular in most apps nowadays), nor really caring for grammar, and others need more structure and explanations. And anything in between, of course. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable with your classes and that there's significant progress. Also, the reason why you want to learn Spanish is important. For tourism or work? Or do you want to live here? Makes a difference in which vocabulary is more appropriate for you.

Ik ben een native speaker Nederlands, maar drietalig (Nederlands, Engels, Spaans) en woon nu al meer dan 12 jaar in Spanje. Ik heb ook lange tijd in Zuid-Amerika gewoond, dus ik ben me zeer bewust van de verschillen tussen Spaans in Spanje en Latijns-Amerika.

Mijn methodes zijn volledig afgestemd op de student. Sommigen houden van de ‘luister en herhaal’-methode met alledaagse onderwerpen (tegenwoordig erg populair in de meeste apps) en geven niet echt om grammatica, terwijl anderen meer structuur en uitleg nodig hebben. En alles daar tussenin natuurlijk. Het belangrijkste is dat je je op je gemak voelt tijdens de lessen en dat je aanzienlijke vooruitgang boekt. Ook de reden waarom je Spaans wilt leren is belangrijk. Voor toerisme of werk? Of wil je hier gaan wonen? Dat maakt een verschil in welke woordenschat voor jou het meest geschikt is.
