With over ten years of teaching experience, I specialize in business English while also working with general adult learners. My classes are conversation-first: I believe language is built through real communication, not memorization, so from the first minute students are speaking, reacting, and thinking in English.
I develop all of my own classroom materials, which lets me keep content current and directly relevant to my students' professional lives. Much of my teaching is video-based, drawing on sources like the Harvard Business Review to explore authentic workplace situations—negotiations, feedback conversations, team dynamics, and decision-making. These clips give students something concrete to respond to and connect the language to the contexts where they'll actually use it.
I pay close attention to up-to-date phrases and idioms, and I'm skilled at unpacking a lot of contextual meaning in just a few words, so students leave with expressions they can use immediately and naturally. My aim is for learners to sound fluent and confident, not textbook-stiff. This approach is grounded in a BA in Education and an advanced TESOL certification, but what really shapes my classes is a decade of learning what helps adults gain confidence in a second language.
One of my students used to dread client calls—he leaned so heavily on his notes that any question off the agenda threw him. Today he handles those conversations with ease, explaining and improvising without a second thought. That's the goal in every class I teach: students who become so confident and fluent they no longer need a coach.
