For my classes, I will want to assess beforehand what are the needs of the student and what they need/want from a one-on-one class. I will have target language set for each class so that the student gains useful knowledge, where that's specific vocabulary or grammatic structures in English. I strive to have the four basic pillars of language learning in every lesson: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Since we will be communicating via zoom/skype. We will have the opportunity for more speaking and listening in my lessons. Nevertheless, I will include reading and writing as much as possible.
Practically, I will conduct the classes only in English, which will help in corrections, pronunciation and conversational skills. I will be using tools such as Google docs, power points, and the occasional short video or audio for listening and comprehension skills. I will use resources provided via my TEFL program and other online resources so that we can work in a stable and controlled environment.
My classes will primarily be an 55 minutes/1 hour long unless more time is required which we can discuss beforehand.
I recently received my TEFL certification training through TT Madrid (a TEFL program in Madrid). A 120-hour program that gave us in-person training and practicum including Profile level assessment training, course planning practicum, and teaching practice with both adult and children students of various levels (A2-C1) in different subjects of our choosing.
Personally, I am a positive teacher who looks to encourage student growth, I am still in the process of improving my materials and teaching practices so while I will take my classes seriously, I want to have fun. English is a difficult language to learn but it is a very flexible language that I love to explore with non-native speakers. I hope to inspire students to learn more and experience as much as possible in the field.
