When it comes to language learning, there is no such thing as one size fits all. Every learner is different. So, as a teacher we should always be ready to make adjustments with our pedagogy. However, the breadth and depth of learning is a tricky part. I think a good balance of both is important most of the time but it also depends on the learning goal. If the goal for example is fluency, learners should be able to simultaneously master content knowledge and skills (pronunciation, intonation, comprehension). On the other hand, if the goal is vocabulary or grammar, then mastery of content knowledge should be prioritized.
