Hay personas que, cuando hablan en su idioma, son rápidas, interesantes, perspicaces.
Tienen criterio, humor y presencia.
Y luego cambian de idioma…
y todo eso parece desaparecer.
No porque no esté ahí, sino porque el entorno no permite que se vea.
Y lo peor es esto:
Con el tiempo empiezas a aceptar una versión más pequeña de ti,
solo porque hablas en otro idioma.
Guío a aprendices de inglés (y de español) que no están dispuestos a renunciar a eso.
Personas que saben que su inteligencia, sensibilidad y manera de pensar
no depende del idioma.
He creado un espacio muy particular,
que no es una clase
ni una conversación al azar.
Es un entorno guiado con angloparlantes e hispanohablantes,
donde vuelves a sonar como tú,
incluso cuando dudas,
incluso cuando no tienes todas las palabras.
No es para principiantes.
Es para quienes ya tienen un nivel intermedio y saben que pueden estar mucho más arriba.

There are people who, in their own language, are quick, engaging, perceptive.
They have judgement, humour, and presence.
And then they switch languages…
and all of that seems to disappear.
Not because it isn’t there,
but because the environment doesn’t allow it to show.
And the worst part is this:
Over time, you begin to accept a smaller version of yourself,
simply because you’re speaking in another language.
I work with learners of Spanish (and English) who refuse to give that up.
People who know their intelligence, sensitivity, and way of thinking
shouldn’t depend on the language they use.
I’ve created a very particular kind of space,
one that isn’t a class
and isn’t random conversation.
It’s a guided environment with native speakers (Spanish and English),
where you start to sound like yourself again,
even when you hesitate,
even when you don’t have all the words.
It’s not for beginners.
It’s for those who’ve reached an intermediate level and know they can go much further.
