Carlos Adán Cabrera Minero

Hi! I’m Carlos, a language teacher, writer and professional translator based in Barcelona.

I offer **English, Spanish and Catalan classes for adults and professionals**, both online and in person in Barcelona.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles and have lived in Barcelona since 2011. I’m bilingual in English and Spanish and speak Catalan at a professional level. This multilingual background allows me to explain clearly how the languages differ and, when useful, use the language you already speak to help you understand the one you’re learning.

I have more than 10 years of experience in teaching, languages and writing. I hold an MFA in Writing from the University of San Francisco and a BA in English Literature from UCLA, and I have taught languages, literature and creative writing in both academic and private settings.

• **Catalan classes for English speakers**, particularly for people living or working in Barcelona and Catalonia

My classes are practical and adapted to your level, interests and goals. Depending on what you need, we can work on:

• language for everyday life in Barcelona and Spain

I especially enjoy working with students who understand a language quite well but find it difficult to speak confidently. My aim is to get you using the language as much as possible during the lesson while giving you the grammar, vocabulary and feedback you need to communicate more naturally.

For intermediate and advanced students, I also use authentic materials such as articles, videos, short stories, podcasts and real-world professional content. This allows us to go beyond textbook language and work with the way English, Spanish or Catalan is actually used.

For professionals, lessons can be adapted to your work environment and may focus on meetings, presentations, interviews, written communication, sector-specific vocabulary or communicating more confidently with international colleagues and clients.

Lessons are structured, but never rigid. I adapt the material as we go according to your progress, interests and the areas where you need the most support. I don’t use exactly the same programme for every student.

Whether you’re starting from zero, want to become more confident speaking, need a language for professional reasons, or have lived in Spain for years and want to communicate more naturally, we’ll build the lessons around what you actually need.
