Chiharu Sugie

Hello! I’m Chiharu, a qualified Japanese language teacher from Japan, currently living in the Netherlands.

I have experience teaching Japanese to students from a variety of backgrounds, both in person and online. I have taught at language schools and a university, as well as private and online lessons. I teach both one-to-one lessons and group classes, from beginner to intermediate level.

My lessons are always adapted to each student’s goals and interests. Whether you are learning Japanese for travel, everyday conversation, work, the JLPT, or simply because you love Japanese culture, I can create lessons that suit your needs.

For beginners, we can start step by step with useful expressions, pronunciation, hiragana and katakana, basic grammar, and simple conversations. For students who already have some Japanese experience, we can focus on improving speaking confidence, grammar, reading, kanji, and more natural communication.

I especially enjoy helping students use Japanese in real-life situations. Rather than simply memorizing vocabulary and grammar, I encourage you to speak and practise what you learn during the lesson.

I understand that speaking a new language can sometimes feel challenging, so I aim to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where you can make mistakes, ask questions, and learn at your own pace.
