Emma Harkins

Hi! My name is Emma and I am a native-speaking English teacher offering English and Spanish lessons to beginner and intermediate learners in Madrid.

Originally from Scotland, I have 1 year of experience working with the British Council teaching teens aged 12 to 16 in a formal classroom setting, as well as 1 year of experience giving private tutoring lessons with teens and adults. Additionally, I recently graduated with a joint bachelors degree in Education and Spanish.

I prefer to give classes online for maximum flexibility, but I am also available for in-person classes too within reasonable distance.

As someone who is bilingual in English and Spanish and has worked as an English Language Assistant (ELA) in Spain, I have seen first hand how empowering it can be when people gain confidence in another language. I really value communicative and supportive learning environments, so my teaching approach focuses on helping learners use English in real life situations. Altogether, my goal as as a languages teacher is to help students build confidence and enjoy the process of learning another language. I strongly believe in the power of languages as a tool to widen your opportunities and achieve your dreams, a passion which I like to reflect in all of my lessons.
