I will teach the classes in a fun, supportive, and interactive way so that children feel confident and motivated to learn. Each lesson will be clear and structured, with small steps so learners can easily understand and practise new skills. I will encourage participation by asking questions, using pair or group work, and giving every child a chance to speak and contribute. I will also provide lots of positive feedback to build confidence, while gently correcting mistakes to help them improve. Most importantly, I will create a safe and friendly environment where children feel comfortable, curious, and excited to learn

I am qualified with a Bachelor’s Degree in Intermediate and Senior Phase, which means I am qualified to teach ages 10 – 15. I have been in a classroom setting since the age of 19, as a student teacher, all the whilst obtaining my degree. I found these years of infield experience extremely valuable, as I was not just learning the theory work behind teaching, but applying it in a practical setting.

I have also obtained a level 5 TEFL certificate. Once I obtained my degree I was immediately appointed as a teacher, leaving no gaps in my work experience. I have, formally, been a qualified teacher for 9 years, where I have taught subjects like: Mathematics, English Home language, English First Additional language, Geography, History and Natural Sciences, EMS, Technology, Afrikaans, Life Orientation.

I am very proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and in all forms of technology. I do integrate my technological skills into my teaching methods, as I believe it keeps the “modern” learner interested and in touch with the world around them.

I believe strongly in a holistic approach to teaching, where not only the academic well-being of the learner is considered but, also the social and emotional well-being are well looked after. I believe a happy and content child makes for a confident and successful learner.
