Kate Phan

Currently working as an ESL teacher for face to face classes and online, I initiate, plan and deliver several new student engagement schemes which have a clear focus on learning, developing creativity and goal achievement orientations. Having been recognised for my resourcefulness, ability to innovate; strong communication skills and desire to work collaboratively, I believe these are key qualities to be an outstanding teacher.

Previous experience includes preparation delivery of various in-/outdoor activities by creating numerous hands-on and project-based activities to meet individual learning needs/abilities and interests, which promote pupils’ love of nature, in addition to developing well-rounded individuals. Thus, helping to achieve developmental milestones. These opportunities are highly motivating for students and create opportunities for them to explore an area which is somewhat unfamiliar. Allowing each child space to develop at their own pace with just the right amount of support requires an adaptable, flexible educator, which I am. Leading activities which meet these specifications enable me to focus on my passion for pupil development whilst stimulating their curiosity. Helping them to realise their potential.

To ensure I continue to be an outstanding teacher, I engage in many professional development opportunities. After relocating to Madrid, to ensure I was familiar with the UK teacher’s standards and improve my knowledge and understanding of the British Curriculum, I enrolled on a PGCE course with the University of Sunderland. I completed my teaching practice at Numont (British) School, here in Madrid. This allowed me to gain more insight into the needs of Spanish learners.
