Dear reader and reviewer,
My name is Kyle Lambing and I am from Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania, United States, but I am living in Barcelona, Spain.
I have a Bachelors from The Pennsylvania State University in Communications and Mass Media Studies, Minor in Sustainability Leadership, Certificate in Public Relations and a Masters of Science from Duquesne University in Higher Education Administration.
Along with my thorough involvement in TEFL and TESOL in China, and my experience in the United States in Higher Education in student activities, student engagement, student voter registration and engagement, residence life, housing and food services, and other university work, I have a unique combination of experience in a variety of levels and fields in Education.
I did not have the opportunity to leave the country, let alone the state when I was younger, but, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet people from all over the world when I went to Penn State and got involved in the Multicultural Council and later Residence Life, which sparked my curiosity about the world. This is what pushed me to finally leave the country and I visited Toronto, then went on a study abroad trip to Spain, and took 12 credits of Spanish in college. After graduation, I lived for a year in Yangzhou, China, teaching English and seeing more of China than I have of my own country! I also was able to visit Seoul, South Korea. I realize now that I should have gone to Spain, and not China since I took 12 credits of Spanish!
In China, I was often chosen as one of the teachers they send out to the large public schools where I would do promotional teachings to groups as large as 60 students! In Shane English School (The London based private English school I worked for), I mostly taught younger children from 4 to 10 years old, and our classes were taught in a form that we unofficially called “Edutainment” since it was a highly interactive English speaking only style of teaching taught through educational games and activities throughout our lesson plans.
As a former Resident Assistant and Residence Life Coordinator at Penn State University I already know a lot about Higher Education. Also, with my Higher Education Administration degree, I have taken classes such as “Organizational Governance”, “Managing External Relations'', “Leadership in Higher Ed”, “Financial Management in Higher Ed” and “Legal Issues in Higher Ed”, where I have learned a lot about university systems.
With my minor in sustainability leadership, and my time volunteering at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, working for Asbury Woods Nature Center, and being the President of Greener Behrend and the Agricultural Club at Penn State Behrend, my experiences in the areas of sustainability and the environment are thorough.
My work background involves a unique mix of English education, student engagement, higher education, community and political outreach, environmental and sustainability issues, website and multimedia work, and sales which is a bit of a mixed bag!
I am now a Spanish Student in Barcelona with BCNLIP and hope to also be an English teacher here in Barcelona! I am happy to go into more detail about myself and would love to learn more about you as well!
