Lauren Gillane

I am a 23 year old from Ireland. I have a degree in Economics and Hispanic Studies. Since graduating, I have relocated to Barcelona to improve my Spanish fluency. I've lived in Bilbao, Barcelona, Chicago and Ireland.

I studied French in high school/ secondary school and unfortunately, there wasn't an emphasis on the importance of speaking and so after leaving school I could barely have a basic conversation. After studying Spanish for one year, I decided to move to Bilbao to try improve. It was there that I realised how important speaking a language was was. It doesn't matter if you can get 10/10 on a grammar or written exam if you have 0 confidence speaking it. To be confident speaking and not overthinking and worried about mistakes is the biggest challenge for learners. This is why I focus on speaking and making sure my students confidence grows. I strive to make my classes enjoyable and dynamic so that my students leave happy and confident.
