Mara Ambrosie

I have been an English teacher since 2012. I specialize in teaching English through engaging conversations, because I have noticed that most of my students in Barcelona have a decent grasp of English grammar, but are afraid of speaking.

I have also taught Cambridge exam prep to teens and adults, with focus on the PET, FCE and CAE.

In the past 6 years I have been teaching one to one business English classes almost exclusively.
My students have been from companies such as Caixa bank, Deloitte, General optica, Building Centre. During the pandemic I became proficient in teaching online, on platforms such as zoom, google meets etc. This means it doesn't matter where you are based, we can easily have the class online.

I have taught many different professionals from marketing directors, entrepreneurs, cyber security experts, to real estate risk specialists.

What I bring to my classes is the capacity to make my students feel comfortable speaking in English. My high level of empathy and my language skills make it easy to understand what my students are trying to say, and then I can offer them vocabulary alternatives, grammar advice, gentle corrections.

I also firmly believe that mistakes are useful. Mistakes are opportunities to grow. So I always tell my students "Never apologize for making mistakes. Sorry is not necessary during this English class."
