My name is Maria, and I am originally from Spain. Although I am not a native English teacher, I studied all my primary, secondary and high school education in the United States and have an Associate in Arts Degree in Psychology from Broward College (Florida). In Spain, I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English Studies and a Master´s degree in Language teaching.
Here's a little bit about who I am and what to expect in one of my classes. I've been an English teacher for over 6 years. Over the years, I have worked with students from (A1-C1) levels, of all different ages and from different backgrounds. Since I've taught all areas of English, I'm more than happy to help with writing, speaking, listening, or reading comprehension. I teach General English, and also have broad experience with TOEFL and Cambridge Exams, Tutoring, Conversation Practice and Interview Preparation.
I am capable of providing individual as well as group support, integrating lessons appropriate for each age group and offering encouragement and reinforcement to keep students focused and motivated in order for them to accomplish their learning objectives. I am currently studying to improve my Italian (B2) and beginning to learn Greek, so I understand the difficulties and frustrations of, not only learning a new language, but also finding the time in a busy schedule to study. I am confident that you will benefit from my knowledge, experience, efficiency and professionalism.
One of the ways that I assist my students is by developing and presenting understandable and stimulating grammar and vocabulary lessons plans that facilitate all learning styles. I incorporate different resources to accommodate students’ learning through visual, audio and kinesthetic methods. My objective is to ensure that each student is able to comprehend and retain the concepts learnt in class, by fostering and maintaining an open, communicative, and supportive classroom, in which each student feels comfortable and appropriately challenged.
My classes are always relaxed and encouraging. When I provide feedback, I will be positive and constructive. As a teacher and as a student of language myself, I know that the best way to improve is to practice speaking skills as much as possible. I do that by asking a lot of questions and providing prompts or basic constructions for the answers.
I am very friendly and patient and would love to help you progress with your English! If you wish to improve in any of the following areas: exam and interview preparation, speaking, writing, listening, please feel free to book a trial lesson so you can explain about your goals and we can design a personalized learning plan for you. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
