About Me:
I am a native English speaker from England with a 35-year career in high-level UK administration and management. For the last six years, I've spent my time between the UK and Spain, learning Spanish through video-call exchanges with Spanish people whom I now consider my friends.
I spent a year successfully assisting a candidate with the English exam for the A1 Inspectores de SOIVRE.
I aim to provide specialised, tailored support to a maximum of 3 or 4 dedicated candidates preparing for the A1 Inspectores de SOIVRE, Cuerpo Superior de Administradores Civiles (A1) or Gestión Civil (A2) or similar qualification. As a retired person, I have the time to dedicate myself to supporting students fully.
My Professional Experience:
Legal & Regulatory Authority (13 Years – Law Society of England & Wales):
My work involved the drafting of complex policy changes and formal disciplinary reports, working in accordance with Laws, Regulations and Guidelines.
I served as Secretary to numerous high-stakes committees, including:
Appeals Committees: Managing the procedural rigour of formal legal appeals.
Exam Boards: Overseeing the standards and administration of professional entry.
Specialist Recognition Casework: Evaluating applications for professional accreditation.
My role at the Law Society was subject to inspection by the Department of Trade and Industry. I was required to attend interview where I would have to answer questions in detail about my work and explain my actions and decisions.
Social Policy & Management (14 Years – Health & Social Care):
I was the registered care manager for a home for deaf and blind individuals, legally responsible for their well-being. Therefore I needed an excellent understanding of the law relating to the care of individuals. Consequently, I was regularly subjected to inspections by both internal and external inspectors and the pressure to respond to questions during interviews.
Human Resources (6 Years – Legal Sector):
Working in the Human Resources department of a firm of solicitors interacting with lawyers on a daily basis. During this period of my career I was able to continue to operate at a professional level.
My Approach
As someone who has worked with deaf and blind people for many years my approach is entirely based on what the student needs and how they learn. It goes without saying that I am incredibly relaxed and patient. If necessary, the student and I can undertake the simulation of oral exams over and over again, practising arguments, refining ideas and developing techniques to give the student time to collect their thoughts until they are comfortable with the skill or subject they are trying to acquire.
To maximise the benefit of the paid 1-hour session, I anticipate that the student and I will need to carry out some preparation beforehand and conduct a review shortly afterwards.
