I believe that engaging students is how you make education meaningful. I do this by having my students participate in class, which helps them build confidence and keeps them focused. Participation also builds moral for the entire class by demonstrating that language learning isn't so daunting. Making use of repetition and fun reenforces the skills the students need to grow a strong grasp of the language and keeps the classroom interested. Activities that include reading, writing, speaking, and listening are ones that I will employ to foster competency within the student. Teaching requires patience, flexibility, and organization skills that I have. I understand that each student has different needs and I will be accommodating to that by assessing their strengths and weaknesses. With my role as an auxiliar de conversación I have enjoyed working one on one with students to give them the personalized attention that they need to thrive while learning English. In the classroom setting I have my students read the directions of their activities, which helps them apply their knowledge of the language in real time. I firmly believe that methodical learning helps students' minds solidify the concept at hand. Even as a native English speaker, I sometimes find difficulty with the language, and this helps to builds a bridge with struggling students as I can offer different perspectives to the concept at hand. I have worked with children from ages 6 to 12, so I know what children of different ages and levels of English need.
