¿Cuál es la estructura de una pregunta en inglés?

Hola Jadasas, depende de la pregunta que quieras realizar tendrás una estructura u otra. PREGUNTAS CUYA RESPUESTA ES YES/NO: AUXILIAR (do/have/ be/can/... + SUJETO + INFINITIVO WH- QUESTIONS + AUXILIAR + IYOU +NFINITIVO esta forma la autorizamos para preguntar QUÉ/CÓMO/CIANDO/DÓNDE/ POR QUÉ/CUÁNTO..... Con WHO cambia la estructura cuando preguntamos por el sujeto pues quedaría WHO + VERBO CONJUGADO+ .....? Who is playing the guitar? Who came yesterday?

Buenas Jadasas. Hay dos tipos de preguntas en inglés, pero en general la estructura es (Wh-) Verbo auxiliar + Sujeto + (adv.+) Verbo principal + Complementos? Tipos: 1. Las que tienen una respuesta corta. Estructura: Verbo auxiliar + Sujeto + (adv. +) Verbo principal + Complementos? ¿Quieres café? Sí / No. —Do you want coffee? Yes, I want. / No, I don't want. — 2. Las que tienen respuestas más larga o que dan una información. Estructura: Wh + Verbo auxiliar + Sujeto + (adv. +) Vb+ Complementos? ¿A qué hora sale el tren? A las seis. —What time the train leaves? At 6pm. — ¿Por qué no comes carne? Soy vegetariano. —Why don't you eat meat? Because I'm vegetarian. — *Truco: si lleva Wh un 99% de las veces será pregunta con respuesta que da más información, por poco que sea. What are you doing? Nothing. (Pregunta de respuesta larga/que añade información.) **Las preguntas con Who son sutilmente diferentes porque preguntan por el sujeto, entonces omiten el verbo auxiliar y conjugan el verbo. Who ate my piece of cake? (correcto) Who did ?? eat my piece of cake? (Mal, además no tienes sujeto, te falta cómo llenar ese hueco)

Para tiempos simples (present simple - past simple) Piensa en QASI (Quasimodo!) Question word + Auxiliary + Subject + Infinitive How do you make a cake? O ASI Auxiliary + Subject + Infinitive Do you understand?

1. Yes/no questions (closed questions) 1.1 'to be' •TO BE + SUBJECT + COMPLEMENT Examples: Are you okay? Were you okay? Is he at the gym? Was he at the gym? 1.2 'to do' (action verbs) •AUX + S + V (bare infinitive=without 'to') + C Examples: Do you like pizza? Did you like pizza? Does she speak Russian? Did she speak Russian? 1.3 Modal verbs •AUX + S + V (bare infinitive=without 'to') + C Examples: Can she swim quickly? Will you be at home tomorrow? Would you like a bag of chips? ... 2. Question words (open questions) The only difference is that a QW is added at the beginning of the question. 2.1 • QW + TO BE + SUBJECT + COMPLEMENT Examples: Why are you happy? Where is your brother right now? How was the exhibition yesterday? 2.2 • QW + AUX/MV + S + V (bare infinitive=without 'to') + C Examples: When does Sonia teach English? The question structure always stays the same: question word, auxiliary, subject, main verb

For example, take the affirmative: John loves Jane. We can ask two questions: Who does John love? ->Jane ( object ) Who loves Jane? -> John ( subject)

Somehow the first part didn't get posted! I like the simplicity of your answer but it doesn't apply to questions about the subject as Rocio mentions above. This often happens with 'who' questions.

Pasado simple - auxiliar did + infinitivo sin to. Ejemplo: what did he do? Verb to be - no hay que añadir do/ does. Ejemplo: Where are they? Where is she?
