In the wake puede ser o bien un velatorio o en la estela de... Por ejemplo: The tornado left destruction in its wake: el tornado dejó destrucción en su estela (a su paso)

Es una expresión idiomática qué no es muy común pero significa dentro de la muerte velada entre los vivientes, es como decir que cuando seres vivos están velando a un ser querido y amigó el qué esta en el ataúd puede ver qué los los seres vivos le están velando más el no se puede conectar ya más porque está en otra dimensión!
