Students will know me as a teacher who is both consistent and full of energy. Someone who brings structure to the classroom while never letting it feel dull. I am the kind of educator who can be firm when the moment calls for it and lighthearted when it doesn't, and my students quickly learn that both sides come from the same place: a genuine care for their growth.
More than anything, students will know me as someone who believes curiosity is the most important thing they can bring to class. I do not just teach English. I teach students how to ask better questions, how to sit with a difficult text until it starts to make sense, and how to find something worth saying and say it well. I push them to stay curious even when the work gets hard, and I make sure they know that struggling with something is not a sign of failure, it is a sign that they are learning.
Students will also know me as a teacher who takes engagement seriously. My classroom is not a place where you sit back and wait for class to end. We discuss, we debate, we write, we read aloud, and we challenge each other respectfully. Every student has a voice in my room, and I work hard to make sure they all feel confident using it.
Ultimately, students will remember me as the teacher who refused to let them stop trying, and who made them glad they didn't.
