Hello! I'm Harsha. I’m a lecturer of English at a university. I specialise in Intensive English, Exam Preparation, Business English, and Conversational English. I speak with a neutral accent. Aside from teaching, I love reading, watching movies, and travelling.
All of my lessons center around a theme like travel, food, literature, work, education, technology, etc. I often use videos of real-life examples of spoken English– TEDx talks, comedy skits, movie scenes, travelogues, advertisements, etc– to warm up and set the context for the lesson, so that my students have authentic exposure to the language. This is followed by learning new vocabulary, a reading or listening exercise, and a grammar questionnaire (if grammar is the focus that day). We usually end with a speaking exercise based on the language learnt in the earlier parts of the lesson.
I am fluent in German and Hindi, so I am comfortable with teaching beginners/ A1 learners of English who speak these languages.
I teach Business English in a similar way, but the topics are, of course, related to business, and the focus is on vocabulary, functional language and communication skills required in the workplace. A specialised version of this course can be opted for by professionals in fields like Finance, Human Resources, Medicine, Nursing, IT, Aviation, etc.
For exam preparation, I explain the format of the exam clearly and go over the strategies required to tackle each section (listening/ reading/ writing/ speaking). Students practice sample questions and can also take mock exams for greater confidence in their preparation. I provide them with constructive feedback to help them improve.
I teach certain linguistics-related subjects (articulatory phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, etc) to undergraduate students as well as English language teachers, but please contact me before you book a trial for the same. I can also help with academic/ thesis writing.
Please note that I do not help with job/ university interview preparation unless you are one of my regular students.
I analyse the needs, strengths, areas of improvement, and goals of each student before they begin their learning journey so that I can create personalised lessons for them. We also work together to come up with a plan for their studies. This way, students learn more efficiently, have a clear course of action in mind, and achieve their language goals quicker.
Book a trial lesson with me so that I can help you excel in English— whether you're taking exams, learning it for your job, or simply trying to speak it as well as a native user of English. See you in class!
