In my experience, students learn a language by practicing it. Because of that, I apply a “Learning by Doing” approach. Students are involved in language learning through activities, reading, discussions, and games related to the specific language or content created to help with differentiated learning styles.
Through my own “voyage” and learning with the iPad technology, I’ve found a number of apps that can be used with both platforms Windows and iOS 12.3 that are extremely flexible and adaptable to incorporate audio visual content.
Pair and group work is another important aspect of my teaching philosophy. This teaches students communication skills and enables them to interact socially.
I accentuate the importance of Literacy and Study skills, both as a method of achieving a higher performance academically and socially, but also as a way to attain learner’s goals. I emphasize mistakes made as means of learning, instead of failure or problems.
It is my belief that students’ scheduled diagnostic tests, own portfolio and class and one-to-one discussions are more realistic and practical forms of achieving assessment.
I also understand that by providing and nurturing an atmosphere where learners could feel confident, listened to, no matter the type of concerns they have, and fostering self- independence, it will encourage students to perform and learn better.
As an enthusiastic reader and world curious person, I try to provide a role model for my students in their search for excellence.
