My teaching specialty is in English formal writing and essay preparation. I have taught primarily these subjects to students with English as a second language for more than a year at the University of Galway in Ireland, as well as instructing students on common grammatical errors and making them comfortable articulating their own thoughts in a second language.

As a teacher with an academic background in linguistics, I have a fuller understanding of the workings of English grammar its structure than many English teachers who simply complete a weekend course and find their teaching materials online.

For example, I am able to explain to students the reasons for the many exceptions in English verb conjugations and the disconnection between English spelling and pronunciation, where many other teachers that would simply tell their students "there is no explanation for these exceptions, you must simply memorize them because English is so difficult."

As a teacher with experience in academic tutoring, I can assure students that I am professional, organized and helpful, but at the same time I am warm, friendly and agreeable; the very opposite of a harsh grammar school teacher!

I am available for tutoring in preparation for exams, for long-term courses, or even for shorter or even single sessions to help students prepare essays. I am also available for those who seek a native English speaker to engage in less structured lessons to improve their own English through conversation and dialogue with a native speaker.

I have experience tutoring children, teenagers and adults at all levels and for various purposes:

-Training and preparation for FCE and CAE exams (grammar, speaking, listening & writing)
-Business English for the workplace, proven experience with working professionals who have improved their level of competency to help their careers.
-Help with school work, studying and achieving higher grades in class.
-Supplementary lessons based on school work that the student requires help with.
-Casual classes for practicing conversational English, for basic and more advanced speakers.
-General lessons for students who are not in school or in preparation for an exam, but want to learn more English for personal reasons.

These are only some examples of the kinds of classes that I can provide. I am a flexible teacher and if you have a particular goal or motivation for taking English language lessons, we can discuss this during a consultation meeting.
