¿Cómo utilizar la voz pasiva en inglés según el tiempo verbal?

Como profesor particular de inglés, voy a hacer inciso en la voz pasiva. La voz pasiva en inglés se utiliza para poner énfasis en la acción realizada sobre el sujeto, en lugar de quien la realiza. En una oración en voz pasiva, el sujeto recibe la acción del verbo en lugar de realizarla.

La estructura básica de una oración en voz pasiva es la siguiente:

Sujeto + verbo to be (conjugado en el tiempo correspondiente) + verbo en participio + resto de la oración.

A continuación te muestro cómo se construye la voz pasiva en varios tiempos que verbales, junto con ejemplos (A=active; B=passive):

Present Simple: "is" o "are" + verbo en participio

  1. They clean the house.

  2. Passive: The house is cleaned (by them).

Past Simple: "was" o "were" + verbo en participio

  1. John repaired the car.

  2. The car was repaired (by John).

Future Simple: "will be" + verbo en participio

  1. They will deliver the packages tomorrow.

  2. The packages will be delivered (by them) tomorrow.

Present Continuous: "is being" o "are being" + verbo en participio

  1. She is painting the picture.

  2. The picture is being painted (by her).

Past Continuous: "was being" o "were being" + verbo en participio

  1. They were repairing the roof.

  2. The roof was being repaired (by them).

Present Perfect: "has been" o "have been" + verbo en participio

  1. He has written the book.

  2. The book has been written (by him).

Past Perfect: “had been" + verbo en participio

  1. They had finished the project.

  2. The project had been finished (by them).

Answer key:

  1. Two or three emails are sent (by me) every day.

  2. The blue house was bought (by her) last week.

  3. Sandwiches for the picnic will be made (by us)

  4. Their car is being washed (by them).

  5. I was being told the truth (by you).

  6. The car key has been forgotten (by him).

  7. The unit had been studied (by you).
