Durante el tiempo enseñando inglés, lo que me ha gustado más que nada - a los alumnos también - es crear mis propios materiales para las clases. Esto me permite diseñar la clase específicamente para los habilidades de los propios alumnos, y además, engañar a ellos mismos para que entren mi mundo y lo exploremos juntos.
Me gusta especialmente crear poemas e historias. Poemas, por qué tienen una gran capacidad por el misterio, mientras están llenos de detalles para practicar muchos aspectos del idioma, como pronunciación mediante la rima y el ritmo, vocabulario como siempre y la potencia por flexibilidad en gramática en el uso real de la lengua.
Por debajo, tenemos un ejemplo de un poema que escribí para unas clases de este trimestre. Es de nivel intermedio, pero lo he usado con niveles bajos con éxito también, a los quienes les encanta el reto de descubrir el misterio de lo que trate. Léelo a ver como os parece, y díme si sabes quien o que es el narrador.

I’m blind but I’m finding my way through the grass,
Using my nose and my ears as my maps.
My home is below, and death is above,
At least, that is, until my time is up.
I run and I sniff, I’m searching for stuff
To stuff in my cheeks - I cannot get enough.
Berries and nuts and a worm if I’ve luck,
Until it gets light, that’s when my time is up.
Now morning is dawning, I’m running back home,
Across the grass I follow my nose,
The taste of the berries is sweet in my throat.
I hope as I step, I skip and I jump,
I’m so hot I could sweat as my little heart pumps.
But as I approach a scream hits my ear,
Followed even louder by the feet of my fear.
They’re soaring and clawing, I hop to the left,
Then duck to the right back into my nest.
