New Places, New Phases, and a New Discovery

Americans

I am an American. A Texan to be exact. What do they say? Everything is bigger in Texas. Including homes, and home listings. I come from a very rich neighborhood. Where simple rent can cost about 1,000 dollars a month. This, 1,000 dollar fee, is a simple flat. To further explain, it would be a spacecious, maybe a one bedroom. Depending on the area, and its entitites.

I have found myself in the need of a new home. I currently live in the Northen part of Madrid sharing a two bedroom flat with some friends. I have started to look for new departments in new areas of the city. Including the heart of the city, Gran Via. I have also started looking at residences near the Opera House, or in Republic of Argentina. Places I have visited before. I have seen how huge the city is, but how small it can be as well.

I, on one hand, find it funny how I stayed closest to home for College. Yet was courageous enough to cross countries for my early twenties. To tell you the truth, with my expiriences at my hometwon, matters have been less dificult than expected. Rent prices seem less shocking, and less surprising. I have found a friend, Peter, who gives me the insight of Madrid. He has lived here for four years, and has done plenty of things in the city. He is another English Teacher in the area. Someone who has found great success in the buisness, and lives off of it. He is truly the cherry on top.

Ballet - New York City Ballet

Ballet Shoes.

My talent was discovered at a much later rate. It all started by a secret video tape at the age of twenty three.

At an early age, I found myself admiring the Ballerinas of my local stage. I would look up to places such as New York City Ballet, and The Royal Opera House in London, England. As a toddler, I came from a rough economical background. It wasn´t until my eighteenth birthday that I finally started to travel the world. Elements such as Ballet School were out of the picture frame. I was 12 almost 13 years old, dreaming BIG for a role in the Nutcracker or maybe even Swan Lake. It was not until I was secretly video taped at a rehersal. The tape was sent to the one and only Director of New York City Ballet, Peter Martin. Peter Martin is not only the Director of New York City Ballet, but the mastermind behind George Balanchine. To my surprise, I got contacted by the man of the most prestigous Ballet School in the United States. He explained throughly that I met all the possible requirements to enter the school once I reached the age of 25. I was two years too early for my audition.

I could not believe it. I could not believe the tapes; I could not believe the alignment that came through me. I was watching myself on screen, and most definetly I could not believe Peter Martin was on the other side of the hotline.

To my excitement, I decided I was much too old to audition. Too young for the position, and too old for the part. Since the discovery, I have found myself working my feet muscles to not lose my alignment, and work on my future plans. I discovered if I have it, my offspring will most certianly too. As I write this, it is to this day, hard to believe that I would turn down such a postion. There are times where one must pass the torch to the next generation.
